Natascha's Palace

1 cup molasses
5 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves

Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.

Some notes about this recipe:

These are the cookies you see in German Christmas markets. Make a hole small hole in the cookie before baking and you can make your own ornaments. You can use a straw.

This recipe has been around for ages. While researching, I found this image of a manuscript from the 16th century.

A “lebukuchener”!

Ok everyone…enjoy xxxx Natascha
