Yam and potato gratin


I love this recipe because it is easy, delicious and colourful! You can add some grated cheese on top but we were happy with the simple layers of potatoes and yams. You decide what you want to do!

Serves 2
Preheat oven to 220Β°

500g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
500 g sweet potatoes (yams)
1 small onion, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
Olive oil

Mix the potatoes, yams and onions in a bowl. Add the salt and mix once more.

Pour olive oil into a frying pan on low heat. Use just enough to evenly coat the bottom. I used 2 tablespoons.

Add the potatoes, yams and onions and fry gently on low heat until the onions are transluscent and the potatoes and yams are soft. This takes about 20 minutes.

Pour the ingredients into a baking pan. Spread them even evenly and bake for around 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top starts turning brown.
