Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award and a pear and mint tea loaf


What a surprise when I discovered that I was nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award by two lovely bloggers! One is Stephy over at and the other is over at Stephy has a beautiful blog and is so creative! It is by following her instructions that I learned how to butterfly a chicken! Here are the questions and my answers!

1. On bad days, how do you cheer yourself up?

I can easily cheer myself up in the kitchen or reading a cookbook. Other times, I watch a favourite movie with my husband, accompanied by a tea, lovely cold beer or glass of wine!  Sometimes just being alone is a great thing. In the silence I see that things are not as bad as they seem.

  1. Which is your favourite food?

Without a doubt, a steak, preferably made by my husband of my wonderful dad.

  1. How do you let go?

I let go by distancing myself from things or people that are causing me to feel like I have to let go. This does not always mean physically, but emotionally. This can be by watching a movie or trying a new recipe or chatting with my husband. Later, I usually see the whole picture much clearer and feel ready to move on.

  1. How much do you value, ¨silence¨?

I love it. I am a first grade teacher and I have 100 students.  My life has a lot of noise!

  1. Will you hurt someone intentionally or lie to make to make them feel better?

Sometimes, unless an answer is really required, it is best to say nothing. Smile, and remember that people don´t always want the truth. They want to hear what they want to hear. People who love you will tell the truth in really important matters. And people who are honest with themselves will seek truth.

  1. Do you have faith in humanity? Why or why not?

Yes, I do. I have faith in humanity because to doubt it means to doubt one´s self. Each one of us is capable of doing great things . I tell my students this all the time. God has a fantastic plan for you! He gave YOU talents and gifts that nobody else has! YOU can make this world a better place not only by using the talents that you have but by treating others how you want to be treated. Each one of us can do this in our families, work situations, etc. It is not an easy thing to do but it is possible.

  1. One thing you really wish would come true?

I hope one day to become a mother. I am almost 40 and I have endometriosis. I still have possibilities, but I worry sometimes. If it is meant to be, it will be.

  1. If you had to sum up your life in 10 words or less, what would they be?

Better than I ever could have expected.

  1. How do you express anger?

Depends upon what I am angry about. If it is something serious. I maybe holler for a minute but then get over it. I sometimes cry too.

  1. What is the one thing that will turn you completely off about a person?

Laziness. Too many people want an easy way to gain things. They want a lot with as little effort as possible. But in life, the best things are worth effort and dedication, not excuses and laziness.

And now for the recipe! (Adapted from
Mint tea and pear cake 〜 Recipe

10g mint tea earl grey tea
120ml water
100g sugar
2 eggs
180g all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
110 g salted butter
57 g honey
1 pear, diced

Bring the water to a boil and infuse your tea for at least 10 minutes. Melt the butter, mix in the honeyand add it to the tea. Mix this preparation with the sugar and add the eggs one by one. Beat well to obtain a homogeneous mixture. Mix together the flour and the baking powder and add it to the tea mixture. Mix well and add the pear. Pour the batter in a pan and bake for approximately 40 minutes at 180°C, stick a toothpick or knife in your loaf to know whether or not it is cooked. Serve with vanilla ice cream. ( It is fabulous without the ice cream too!)
